The Panasonic MAK1 5D A.I. Massage Chair is substantial furniture. We nearly chose the wrong room because we focused on the upright shape and did not initially account for the full recline, legrest extension, control-side access, and delivery turn.
Once positioned, the chair feels balanced rather than bulky. The Black finish works with the media room, and the touchscreen remains reachable from the open side.
The massage is excellent, especially the lower-core and foot sections, but the purchase process needs discipline. This is not a box that should arrive before the room and path have been measured. My four-star rating reflects the space commitment and setup complexity, not the mechanism.
MAN1 was my first choice on paper. After testing both, the Panasonic MAK1 5D A.I. Massage Chair was the one I kept returning to. The adaptive mechanism still had the Panasonic precision I wanted, and I liked the lower-core massage, shoulder hold, foot system, and saved profiles.
MAN1’s open-angle track and specialized palm and hip configuration were excellent, but the difference was not important enough for my preferences. MAK1 gave me the 5D sensing generation without paying for features I did not consistently notice.
That conclusion only became obvious after using similar programs at similar intensity. A feature-by-feature chart made MAN1 look like the automatic answer. My body disagreed.
