What drives massage chair cost?
Five factors separate an entry-level chair from an $18,000 chair:
- Mechanism: 2D rollers move up, down and side to side. 3D adds depth, and 4D adds changes in speed and rhythm. Brands also use their own terms, such as Panasonic's 5D A.I. and D.Core's 3D+ True Shiatsu. Our 4D massage chair guide covers 4D in more detail.
- Track: an L-track runs down the back and under the seat. An SL-track also follows the S-curve of the spine. Listed lengths on our chairs include 49 and 55 inches.
- Air, heat and foot systems: air cell counts differ by chair, and the CoreWave 4D Dual lists 28. Heat ranges from lower back and calf zones to heated rollers plus a knee heater.
- Sensing and controls: many chairs scan your body before a session. Controls range from a built-in controller to tablet touchscreen remotes.
- Origin and production run: several makers list their chairs as made in Japan, and the OHCO M8 Neo LE is limited to 2,000 units worldwide.

What else should I budget for?
Plan for delivery fit, warranty, financing and return terms on top of the chair price.

Delivery and setup
Standard shipping within the US is free on products sold through our online store. Most chairs include White Glove Delivery with in-home placement and assembly, if access allows and the chair fits. The Solara ships curbside only. White Glove does not include electrical work or hoisting. Measure doorways, hallways and stairs before you order. Most orders arrive within 5–14 business days. See the shipping policy.
Warranty
Most chairs carry the manufacturer's warranty, and terms vary by chair. For example, the DualTech 4D lists a 3-year limited warranty. We also list an Optional Extended (+2 Years) Warranty at $450. Ask which chairs it covers before you add it. Warranty plans are final sale.
Financing and HSA/FSA
Most of our chair pages list Affirm financing as available, subject to credit approval. Confirm the APR, monthly payment and total repayment cost before you sign.
HSA or FSA eligibility depends on your plan. A Letter of Medical Necessity may be required. Check with your plan administrator or tax advisor. Massage Chairs & More can't determine eligibility. Our massage chair financing and HSA guide lists the questions to ask.
Price protection
6-Month Price Protection. Terms apply.
Returns
Return terms differ for online orders and showroom purchases. You can request a return of an eligible online order within 30 days of receiving it; returns need our prior approval and like-new condition, approved non-defective returns carry a 15% restocking fee, the original and return shipping costs may be deducted from the refund, White Glove and other delivery service costs are non-refundable, and special order items (including the OHCO M8 Neo LE), floor models, clearance items and warranty plans are final sale. See the return policy before you order.
